Rainer, Reunions & Other Random Notes

Rainer Maria Rilke once said, “The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us, long before it happens.” And by that, we mean that we’ve got some shows coming up, and we’d like to help you get your shit together, long before they happen. (Brief aside: his first name is Rainer — it’s time that name came back.)

First, a short look back.

We closed out 2015 with our first reunion show in 30 years. And great news, turns out that Cole is in fact alive and well. May the good lord bless his tiny beating heart. We are working on getting his obituary redacted from The Cherokee Ledger-News but they are a little behind on digitizing their old stock. Classic Cherokee nepotism. Carlos left the drug trade to come back for the reunion show, but as they say in the biz: there’s no such thing as good or bad money. There’s just money. So it appears he has returned to Los Mochis (just South of Mazatlan) and his old negotiations. Scott has reunited with his wife and kids and is now devoting most of his time to helping his wife with her “Rally With Sally For Bone Health” campaign. Always did have such a pure heart. Matt’s drug problems continue but last we heard he was heading to join up with the Bwiti - the forest dwelling pygmy people of Gabon to frequently ingest unimaginable quantities of ibogaine in an attempt to kick his methadone fix. As for Adam, he just headed back to the Lowes in Howard City. He’s got a lot of catching up to do post-holidays, but is super excited for the new line of Sherwin Williams “Ovation” interior primer to hit the shelves mid Feb.

If you have no idea what we’re talking about, watch THIS:

Ok, back to reality, oh there goes gravity, oh there goes Rabbit, he choked… Sorry. Here we go. WE HAVE BRAND NEW SHIRTS AND POSTERS available online. They are insanely hip (thanks to the design by Hollis Griffith Callas) and your bod and walls are craving them. Do something about it.

Now, back to Rilke and the future.

We are coming to the East Coast at the end of February and so are you. Here’s the rundown:

2.24 - Philadelphia @ Johnny’s Brenda’s
Pros: We’re playing a show in Philadelphia and it’s gonna jam harder than Heavy D.
Cons: It’s on a Wednesday. Nobody really likes Wednesdays, so maybe this is actually a pro-dressed-up-as-a-con (think Brian O’Conner in 2 Fast 2 Furious).

2.26 - New York City @ Bowery Ballroom
Pros: It’s a Friday night in NYC at one of our favorite venues.
Cons: The B-52’s AND .38 Special (can you even believe it?!?!?) are both playing that night in the city. Your call. All respect.

2.27 - Brooklyn @ Rough Trade
Pros: You can see us two nights in a row and if you go on a major bender for night two, you’ll probably experience it differently.
Cons: The day after Saturday is Sunday.

2.28 - Washington DC @ The Hamilton
Pros: Chances are that this will be our first opportunity to take a pre-show-shower in a couple of days, which is a true blessing.
Cons: We’re playing a placed named after (not sure about this actually) Alexander Hamilton who we all know was mortally wounded in a duel with Aaron Burr. I don’t trust anyone who would agree to a duel (just think about it for more than one second). And he lost to Aaron Burr who was consistently blushing.
2.29 - Chapel Hill @ Local 506
Pros: We played here last year and it was one of the best shows of the whole year.
Cons: Nobody reads these blogs.
Well, that’s about all for now. Keep your head down, keep your head up and high, keep your head above water, don’t lose your head and keep your eye on the prize somehow.
